Did you know?

Inami’s intricate wood carvings can be traced back to the 18th century and are famous for their use in ranma, the space above the door in a traditional Japanese room. They are also used for ornaments and partition screens, and more recently, for details such as door plates, sign boards and interior light fixtures. The traditional technique uses over 200 chisels from start to finish, as designs are meticulously and patiently carved out. An excellent place to find wood carving studios is Yokamachi-dori road, which leads to Zuisen-ji Temple.
