What is "Visit Japan Year"?

In designating 2010 as the "Visit Japan Year (VJY)", the country will promote the joys and wonders of travelling in Japan to the world. From January to December 2010, various campaigns will be held in Japan for foreign tourists to welcome them on a nationwide level. Be sure to visit Japan in 2010 to enjoy the full range of Japan's appeal, ranging from its history and culture to cuisine and shopping, and many other aspects as well.

What does Yōkoso mean?

Yōkoso is a simple word with strong resonance that Japanese people use, expressing their gratitude and welcome to their visitors.

Thus, the term Yōkoso is used as the slogan of Visit Japan Campaign.
