MAKE LAST-MINUTE SUMMER PLANS WITH HOSHINO RESORTS

Hoshino Resorts Inc. and the East Japan Railway Company (JR East) have partnered to provide overseas visitors the opportunity to experience special package trips. Using the JR East Pass or Kanto Area Pass, travelers can explore the countryside by train and stay at unforgettable Hoshino Resorts properties. The first summer trip on offer takes visitors through Nikko and Kinugawa with the JR Kanto Area Pass and includes a one-night stay at the luxurious Hoshino Resort, KAI Nikko. This trip is available until September 30th, 2014 and future trips to different destinations will be released at a later date.

Hoshino Resorts KAI Nikko is a hot spring inn nestled on the side of Lake Chuzenji in western Nikko. The inn opened in May and has easy access to magnificent natural attractions such as the Kegon waterfall, Mt. Nantaisan, and Senjogahara, as well as Nikko's shrines.

Newly opened Hoshino Resorts KAI Kawaji is a hot spring inn located in a mountain village alongside a mountain stream. The inn opened in June and offers visitors lush hot spring baths and delicious treats made with freshly-ground flours and grains processed in a traditional Japanese water mill.


KEISEI SKYLINER & TOKYO SUBWAY TICKET

Keisei Electric Railway Co., Ltd. has unveiled a new "Keisei Skyliner & Tokyo Subway Ticket" for visitors to Japan. As of July 15th, overseas visitors can purchase the new ticket at Keisei ticket sales counters in Narita Airport. The ticket set consists of a one-way or round-trip Skyliner ticket from Narita Airport to Tokyo and unlimited rides on all nine Tokyo Metro and all four Toei subway lines for one to three days.

JAL CUSTOMERS GET FREE WI-FI AND TWITTER UPDATES

Japan Airlines (JAL) and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation (NTT East) have partnered to provide free Wi-Fi services for visitors to Japan. Foreign visitors flying with JAL will be eligible to apply for a free ID and password to connect to NTT East's Wi-Fi network. Users can connect to a wide range of NTT East's hotspots in Eastern Japan for 14 days. Eligible visitors can apply online on JAL's overseas website.

JAL is now providing same-day and next-day flight information four times a day through Twitter at 5:30, 10:00, 16:00, and 19:00 Japan Standard Time. JAPAN CONNECTED-FREE WI-FI EXPANDS

The area serviced by "Japan Connected-Free Wi-Fi", an app that offers free Wi-Fi during your stay in Japan, has been expanded to improve usability. The app can be used in 19,000 major tourist areas across Japan. New service areas include New Chitose Airport, Osaka Shinsaibashi shopping street, and Mitsui Outlet Park. The app and the Wi-Fi connection are free of charge. Download the app at the App Store or Google Play.

CYCLE IN CHIBA WITH MACLE

Borrow a public bicycle for free in Chiba's Makuhari New City Community with the Makuhari New City Community Bicycle MACLE system. A selection of 90 bicycles can be picked up and dropped off at 7 different stations between 10 am and 6 pm.

DUTY-FREE SHOPPING EXPANDS

Tax-free shopping will include consumables such as cosmetics, foods, medicine, and alcoholic beverages starting October 1st 2014. While tax-free shopping was previously limited to general goods such as home appliances, clothing, and bags, it now includes famous local sake, sweets and other unique products from stores displaying the "Japan. Tax-free Shop" logo. Stay tuned for more details.


JAPAN SHOPPING FESTIVAL 2014 SUMMER

Overseas visitors can get discounts at participating department stores, shopping malls, outlet malls and electronics retailers in Hokkaido, Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya, Osaka, Fukuoka and more until August 31st. Visitors can also participate in the special "Japan Prize!" gift campaign by obtaining a "Challenge Card of Japan Prize!" from participating stores. Prizes available to be won include round-trip air tickets and a Sony digital HD video camera recorder.
