CANADIAN VISITOR ARRIVALS INCREASE IN AUGUST

We are pleased to report a 24.3% increase in the number of Canadian visitors to Japan in August of this year as compared to last year. Japan welcomed 14,200 Canadians in August 2014 as compared to 11,424 in August 2013.

AIR CANADA ANNOUNCES VANCOUVER-OSAKA FLIGHTS

Air Canada will be introducing non-stop flights between Vancouver and Osaka's Kansai International Airport starting May 1st, 2015. The service will operate up to five times a week until October 24th, 2015 and will use Air Canada Rouge's Boeing 767-300ER aircraft with economy and premium cabins.

TOKYO MAKES THE LIST OF MOST POPULAR INTERNATIONAL CITIES FOR CANADIANS

The Hotel Price Index™ ranked Tokyo #20 in the "50 Most Popular International Cities for Canadians" list in its January-June 2014 report.The successful bid to host the 2020 Olympic Games, and its status as a technology hub and as a gourmet haven, have contributed to Japan's increasing popularity and helped it jump 6 spots in the ranking.

AUTUMN IN ISHIKAWA

November is crab festival month in Ishikawa. Kano Crabs, or Ishikawa snow crabs, are at their best between November and February and Ishikawa Tourism lists the best places to eat them in the prefecture. Their latest Autumn newsletter covers food, recommended Autumn viewing spots, light shows, and world-renowned tourist spots in Ishikawa prefecture.

COW PARADE COMES TO NISEKO IN 2015

The Niseko Promotion Board has announced that Cow Parade, the largest public art event in the world, will be coming to Niseko in the summer of 2015. Cow Parade has been held in 79 countries since 1999 and will be held in Niseko between June 15th and October 15th, 2015. In addition the art event, there will also be a charity event wherein a cow will be auctioned off and the proceeds donated to 2 notable charities. Further details will be made available shortly.

Keio Plaza Hotel is holding a special exhibition of sports news photography in its hotel lobby and other public spaces until October 31st, 2014. The event is co-sponsored by the Mainichi Newspapers and the Sports Nippon Newspapers and will showcase approximately 80 photographic works from diverse sporting events such as the Sochi Olympics, the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, the FIFA World Cup, and various sumo matches.

“Disney’s Halloween”

With only a month left until Halloween, now is the perfect time to enjoy the Halloween atmosphere at Tokyo Disneyland®, Tokyo DisneySea®, Disney Hotels, and the Disney Resort line. Tokyo DisneySea® will be hosting a variety of shows and events, including the 1920s-style "New York Halloween Follies" at the American Waterfront, the friendly "Welcome Skeleton Friends" at Lido Isle in the Mediterranean Harbor, and the colorful "Chip 'n Dale's Skeleton Fiesta" at the Lost River Delta until October 31st, 2014. Join in the fun with the "Skeleton's Street Party" or head over the Tokyo Disneyland® to take in the "Happy Halloween Harvest" parade.

Following the Halloween festivities, Christmas-themed events will be in place from November 7th to December 25th, 2014. Tokyo DisneySea® Park will have the "Christmas Wishes" event, as well as the "Colors of Christmas" illuminations at the Mediterranean Harbor. Each of the seven themed ports will be decorated with colorful illuminations and host the "Holiday Greeting from Seven Ports" show with Mickey Mouse and friends. At Tokyo Disneyland® Park, guests can enjoy the special "Christmas Fantasy" event and watch "Disney's Santa Village Parade".
